Problems

Erosion is a natural process that constantly takes place in Brunei Darussalam, due to the large amount of rainfall that Brunei receives each year. There are some areas in Brunei with serious erosion problems, but unfortunately not much action has taken place in attempt to curb the erosion. Erosion is a problem because if it is not curbed it can result in landslides which can lead to the damaging of buildings and roads.

Erosion occurs at the area of housing scheme.

Possible solutions

The extent of the awareness of students in the University of Brunei Darussalam of erosion should be investigated. The awareness of students should be raised by distributing leaflets throughout the university and setting up a website.

Actions taken

Members of the team searched the internet for information on erosion, and found several useful websites on erosion to link to their own website to raise awareness. Team members surveyed the degree of awareness of erosion. Team members obtained information on erosion from reference books from the library and interviewed relevant TCP officers and lectureres from UBD. They also took pictures of existing sites of erosion, and posted these pictures together with any collected information on their website. Team members also created using the gathered information to increase the awareness of students on erosion.
